The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Services provides leadership and administrative support to the institution for accreditation, quality assurance, and research administration. The vice provost for academic services is also responsible for the support and assessment of the Institutional Review Board and staff, policies, and procedures related to research integrity.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Services serves as the central locus for regional and disciplinary accreditation, including the maintenance of an accurate and current list of accreditation and records of ongoing concerns, as well as strategies and records of addressing any and all concerns. The vice provost for academic services is the accreditation liaison officer with the WASC Senior College and University Commission and undertakes a wide array of special projects concerned with academic program development and review, adjunct faculty, and developing the research function.

Office of Educational Effectiveness and Accreditation

The mission of the Office of Educational Effectiveness and Accreditation is to lead university accreditation efforts and advance excellence in evidence-based assessment of learning.

Office of Human Research Protection Program

The Office of Human Research and Protection Program (HRPP) is a comprehensive system designed to ensure the protection of the rights and welfare of participants in human research.

Office of Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research builds a culture of inquiry and fosters data-informed decision making by providing research services, expertise, and coaching to the university community.

Office of Sponsored Programs and Research

The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research facilitates the efforts of faculty and staff to achieve their goals in research, creative, instructional, and program-development activities.

Meet the Vice Provost of Academic Services

Dr. Joseph Hoey serves as a commissioner for the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Hoey has been involved with accreditation agencies over the past 18 years, including eight years as a WSCUC visiting team chair, assistant chair, and member and 10 years as a SACS review team member and workshop presenter. He has also worked as an international review team member and consultant in Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Enabling and achieving high quality standards has always been his focus, whether in organizations or in the arts. Aligning and reframing organizational structures and processes to meet intended outcomes has formed the core of his work across multiple institutions and consultancies.
