Care for Law Enforcement Officers With Organizational Wellness Training

A Peace Officer Standards Training-Approved Course

The honorable but challenging work of Law Enforcement can have a tremendous impact on officer wellness. National University offers a law enforcement wellness program that goes beyond physical fitness and wellness plans to focus on whole-person wellness to embody mind, body, and spirit.

Cultivating a culture of health and wellness in law enforcement helps law enforcement professionals better serve the community, improving community and law enforcement outcomes. Caring for the Caretakers: Organizational Wellness for Law Enforcement helps managers and law enforcement professionals learn how to create an environment and culture in which employee wellness is central to all aspects of the organization. This program provides a framework to establish best practices and build organizational wellness, including:

  • Organizational culture of wellness
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Barriers and consequences when wellness is not prioritized
  • Impact of cumulative stress and trauma
  • Leadership and structural barriers to organizational wellness
  • Coping and resiliency from the academy to retirement
  • Establishing an organizational wellness program

The program is relevant for all individuals working in law enforcement, including sworn officers and civilian professionals. Enrollment is limited currently to those in the state of California only. The self-paced Organizational Wellness for Law Enforcement course fee is $49 and the program can be completed in 6 hour.

Organizational Wellness Program Learning Objectives

Degree Pathway

Prior Learning Credit (PLA) is available toward an academic degree program at National University after completion of the course. There are no eligibility requirements to enroll. To earn CA POST credit you need a CA POST ID.

If you don’t have one, use this link to get a CA POST ID before registering for the course.

Once enrolled, create your student profile and enter your POST ID in your profile under License or Credential ID field. Instructions will be sent in the order confirmation.

The program is designed to be nine hours in total.

The course is six hours of self-paced, asynchronous instruction, which you can take on your time, on your schedule.
